Herbert Wells Ice Rink Reopening Plan

With the ability to open the Herbert Wells Ice Rink, comes the responsibility to open safely and under strict guidelines. The health and safety of our staff and guests visiting our ice rink and facilities remain our highest priority. M-NCPPC is taking the following precautions as directed by our state and local government and health officials for the safety of our staff and patrons.

Pre-Reservation will be Required for Entrance

FREESTYLE SESSIONS:

Start on October 12, 2020. Freestyle sessions are designed specifically for higher level figure skaters; Freestyle 1 and up. 

  • All patrons must have a Parks Direct account
  • Freestyle sessions can be booked in advance only for those individuals living within your Parks Direct Household
  • All freestyle sessions must be pre-booked and pre-paid in advance using Parks Direct
  • Freestyle sessions will close 24 hours in advance and no further reservations will be available for the next day.
  • No drop-in admissions will be sold, you must book all admission in advance. 
  • Multiple freestyle sessions throughout the week.  
    • Freestyle Sessions Available:
    • Monday: 4-5 pm 
    • Wednesday: 2:15-3:15 pm; and 6:15-7:15 pm
    • Friday: 5-6 pm
  • A Face Covering is required to be worn at all times, even on the ice.
  • Skate Rental is not available, participants must have their own skates.
  • A maximum of one (1) session can be booked per household per day, not more than two (2) days a week.
  • No Connected Skating (Couples, Pairs, Ice Dance, Synchronized)
  • Freestyle sessions always require social distancing, by those not living in the same Parks Direct Household, and will be monitored and addressed
  • Non-rink users and non-skaters are discouraged from entering or remaining in the facility
  • We ask that you wait outside of the facility

STICK AND PUCK SESSIONS:

Start on October 13, 2020. Full equipment required for under 18 years of age - recommended for ALL. 

  • All patrons must have a Parks Direct account
  • Stick and Puck sessions can be booked in advance only for those individuals living within your Parks Direct Household
  • All Stick and Puck sessions must be pre-booked and pre-paid in advance using Parks Direct
  • Stick and Puck sessions will close 24 hours in advance and no further reservations will be available for the next day
  • No drop-in admissions will be sold, you must book all admission in advance. 
  • Stick and Puck Sessions Available:
    • Tuesday: 11 am-12:30 pm (Adult Only)
    • Saturday: 6-7:20 pm (Squirt 10U – Midget 18U Age Players Only)
  • A Face Covering is required to be worn at all times, even on the ice
  • Skate Rental is not available, participants must have their own skates
  • Stick and Puck sessions always require social distancing, by those not living in the same Parks Direct Household, and will be monitored and addressed
  • Non-rink users and non-skaters are discouraged from entering or remaining in the facility
  • We ask that you wait outside of the facility

How to Prepare Before You Come to Skate

  • Please arrive at the ice rink on time for your skate session
  • Patrons should arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to their pre-booked skate session
  • At that time, patrons may line up at the entrance of the facility at identified social distancing intervals
  • Skate sessions will start and end promptly and we don’t want you to miss out on any of your reserved time on the ice
  • Please minimize items that you bring to the ice rink to one small bag. NO HOCKEY BAGS!
  • Skaters should bring their own water bottle
  • Skaters should arrive dressed to skate
  • Please come prepared with a face covering that you will wear at all times, even while on the ice
  • All warm-ups should be done outside of the facility
  • Prepare for limited access to restrooms
  • Lockers and Locker Rooms will not be available for use
  • Please be prepared to leave the facility within ten (10) minutes after your skate session
  • Social distancing, by those not in the same Parks Direct Household, is always required and will be monitored and addressed
  • Customers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and hand sanitizer with them to the ice rink

What to Expect While at the Ice Rink

  • Our facilities will be regularly cleaned and disinfected per the local/state health department and CDC guidelines
  • Non-users and non-participants are discouraged from entering or remaining in the facility
  • We ask that you wait outside of the facility
  • Please look for and adhere to marked entrance/exit doors for access to/from the ice surface
  • Please do not touch other skaters’ belongings or equipment
  • Skaters are encouraged to bring their own water bottle
  • Benches for skate tying will be placed to promote social distancing 
  • Temporary restriction of access to vending machines
  • Lobby benches in common areas will be removed
  • Doors within the facility will be propped open as possible and appropriate to minimize patrons having to touch/open them manually

What to Expect After You Skate

  • Please look for and adhere to temporary exit procedures we have put in place for social distancing
  • Patrons will not enter and exit through the same areas
  • Skaters must exit the facility within ten (10) minutes of the end of their scheduled session or finishing their activity
  • Please clear the facility of all personal items brought with you to the facility
  • Social distancing is required outside of the facility as well
