The Maintenance and Development Division of the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation encompasses the maintenance function throughout the county. Included are administration, fleet management, buildings and structures, roads and grounds, and a major maintenance operation for large-scale, high-priority projects.

In addition, each of the three areas of the county — northern, central, and southern — have general maintenance responsibilities for parks, community centers, and other facilities within their geographic region. Included are athletic grounds maintenance; general trades support such as carpentry, welding, and painting; mowing; picnic area maintenance; cleaning and custodial services for recreation facilities; playground inspection and maintenance; and community support for festivals, summer playgrounds, and special events.
