Community Centers

The cornerstone of the leisure services delivery system in Prince George's County is the community center. The Commission opened its first community center in 1968 and now operates 40 community centers across the county. Some of these centers are freestanding buildings, and others are attached to schools. Each center offers classes, programs, drop-in activities and special events for people of all ages. Gymnasiums, meeting rooms, kitchens, multipurpose activity rooms, weight/fitness rooms and pre-school rooms are some of the components found in the centers. Outdoor amenities vary from site to site and include combinations of play equipment, athletic fields, multipurpose courts, picnic areas, and trails.
