Specialized Sports Facilities Specialized sports facilities throughout the park system serve the varied interests of residents and visitors. Baseball players, track athletes, gymnasts, disc golfers, trap and skeet enthusiasts, boxers, and miniature golfers will all find outstanding public facilities in Prince George's County for recreational pursuits.

Fairland Sports & Aquatics Complex is hiring water fitness instructors, lifeguards, land fitness instructors, swim instructors and gymnastics instructors. Please see the front desk for more information.
Fairland Aquatics Center, built for youth competitive swimming and host to many swim meets in the Washington Metropolitan Area, recently underwent installation of improved lighting throughout the pool area. Swim teams and synchronized swimming teams that train and compete at Fairland include: Fairland Aquatics Swim Team (FAST); Maryland Suburban Swim Club (MSSC); Potomac Valley Pearls; and Flying Gulls, along with many local high schools. Swimming lessons for people of all ages and abilities are offered, from infant through masters. Class levels include: Bubblers, Bubblers, Bobbers, Floaters, Strokers 1, Strokers 2, Youth 1, Youth 2, Youth 3, Youth 4, Youth 5, Youth 6/7, Stroke and Turn, Adult 1, Adult 2, Adult 3 and Masters Swimming. Water fitness classes are also offered including water aerobics, deep-water aerobics and aqua arthritis. These classes are offered at various times of the day and are offered both on a drop-in basis or registration basis (see S.A.F.E. below). One free water fitness day per month is offered. Stop in to pick up our monthly calendar. Water walking is also available throughout the day on the moveable floor area, as well as lap swimming and recreational swimming. After your workout, relax in the spacious hot tub which seats 20 people. The Senior Aquatics Fitness Enthusiasts Program (S.A.F.E.) is designed for individuals 55 years of age and over who want to maintain their current level of fitness or get in shape while having fun! Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for 10 and 12 week sessions.
Gymnastics and trampoline competition events and classes for people of varying ages and skill levels are offered year-round. Class levels include: One, Two & You, Tiny Tumblers, Gym Kids, Girls Bronze, Girls Silver, Girls Bronze & Silver, Girls Gold, Girls Platinum & Diamond, Tumbling, Trampoline & Tumbling, Boys Bronze, Boys Bronze & Silver and Boys Platinum & Diamond. USA Gymnastics competitive training is available for both boys and girls at all levels, including elite. Fairland has sponsored many gymnastics competitions at the state and regional level. Racquet sports classes for tennis and racquetball are conducted for beginners, intermediates and advanced participants, for children, pre-teens, teens and adults. Summer and winter junior tennis teams are available for both girls and boys. Private and semi-private lessons are available, as is league play. Contract time and spot time is available everyday of the week and can be reserved with your SMARTlink barcode number by calling 301-362-6060. Lose weight, get in shape, or stay in shape at Fairland's fitness center. The fitness center includes both the weight room and the dance room - where land fitness classes are held. Fitness center passes and combo fit-n-swim passes are available for sale. Fitness classes include: Silver Sneakers, Shape, Step, Hi-Lo Sculpt, Basic Step, Shape, P.A.C.E., Yoga, Rep Reebok, Circuit Step, Body Steppin', Tae Bo, and Reebok Toning. Ballet and tap dance programs are also offered and held in the dance room on Fridays for ages 3-4 and 5-6.

Job Opportunities Location/Directions - The complex is located in Laurel, Maryland, on Old Gunpowder Road between Powder Mill Road and Route 198. From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take 95 North toward Baltimore. Take Exit 29A (Beltsville-Route 212). At the first light, make a left onto Old Gunpowder Road. Go approximately 2.5 miles to the complex on the left. From Baltimore/Washington Parkway, go North toward Baltimore. Take Powder Mill Road Exit. Make a left off the exit and travel through the Agricultural Center. Take Powder Mill Road across Route 1. Make a right onto Old Gunpowder Road. Go approximately 2.5 miles to the complex on the left. Paint Branch Parkway Community Park Disc Golf Course 5202 Paint Branch Parkway College Park, MD 20740 301-445-4500; TTY 445-4512 Open year-round, this 18-hole disc golf course is one of the finest disc golf courses on the east coast. The object of the game is to successfully throw a disc into a caged disc hole basket. Discs are available for purchase at the Herbert Wells Ice Rink/Ellen Linson Swimming Pool facility across the street at 5211 Paint Branch Parkway. The course is free of charge to use, and is located in a park which includes picnic areas, tennis courts, a picnic shelter, play equipment, and a sand volleyball court. Open Friday-Monday, 10 am-5 pm, Prince George's County Trap and Skeet Center is a year-round, recreational trap, skeet, and sporting clay shooting facility. General public shooting, and league shooting in sporting clays, trap, skeet, five stand, international bunker, and international skeet are available at this facility. Competitive and instructional programs are offered, and the center is available for corporate events. Shotgun rental is offered, and a retail store on-site offers a comprehensive selection of related supplies and accessories. A teen target shooting camp provides a safe introduction to clay target shooting for youths ages 12 to 16. Location/Directions - Located in Glenn Dale, adjacent to Goddard Space Flight Center and the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 22A to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Proceed 400 yards and take Greenbelt Road exit (Route 193) east. Continue through eight traffic lights and make a left onto Good Luck Road. We are located .07 miles on the left. Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center 7707 Barlowe Road Palmer Park, MD 20785 301-386-5888; 301-918-8108; TTY 301-918-8123 Located in central Prince George's County, Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center is a co-ed facility which offers opportunities for amateur and professional training, as well as boxing shows. The center has produced two Olympic champions - Sugar Ray Leonard, the 1976 welterweight champion, and Andrew Maynard, the 1988 light heavyweight champion. Comedian/actor Martin Lawrence also trained at the boxing center. The Boxing Center is located in the strip shopping center on the left. From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 17B Route 202 (Landover Road) west toward Bladensburg. At the second light, make a left on Barlowe Road. Continue two blocks to Boxing Center on the left in shopping center.
