Calendar for May 2008

There's always something going on in Prince George's County. Browse the monthly calendar of events to find out what's happening and where. Or check out Places to Go to get information on parks, community centers, nature centers, special facilities, and more.

Fees are listed with two prices: the first price is for residents of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties (bi-county residents); the second is for non-residents (non bi-county).

Activities throughout May

We've listened and we agree!

Effective May 1, 2008 Youth ID cards for youth ages 6-17 will be available FREE to Prince George's County residents. Free Youth ID cards will allow youth (ages 6-12) free access to community centers without access to fitness/weight rooms, and will allow teens (ages 13-17) access to community centers, and also to fitness/weight rooms with a parent/guardian's supervision. Stop by any M-NCPPC community center to get your new Youth ID.

The Department of Parks and Recreation initiated a Youth Action Plan in March 2007 with a goal of engaging more youth in M-NCPPC's award-winning programs and facilities. FREE Youth ID cards will allow youth access to facilities regardless of their financial situation. After talking with youth and staff, plans are under way to broaden the Xtreme Teens and Xtreme Pre-Teens programs and allowing more activity options for youth who want to be spontaneous in their free time. We want Prince George's County young people to have enjoyable and enriching experiences leading to healthy and responsible adulthood, and benefit the entire community. Visit our websites - www.pgparks.com and www.pgxtremeteens.com - frequently for updates! As this program continues to evolve, we'd like to have feedback from youth, parents, families, teachers, and community leaders. Please contact us at public.affairs@pgparks.com.
