National Trails Day Events

Directions to National Trails Day Program Locations:

BLADENSBURG WATERFRONT PARK
(Located in Bladensburg, MD)
From Washington D.C., take New York Avenue East. Turn North on Bladensburg Road. Pass Peace Cross on left. You are now on Route 450/Annapolis Road. Take 1st right into Bladensburg Waterfront Park. There is a sign at the entrance.
From Maryland, from the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 23B - Kenilworth Avenue South towards Bladensburg. Go five miles. After traffic light for Upshur Street intersection, go right on exit ramp to MD Route 450/Annapolis Road. Go left at end of exit ramp onto Route 450/AnnapolisRoad West. Park entrance is 2 short blocks on the left.

CHELTENHAM WETLANDS PARK
(Located in Cheltenham/Upper Marlboro, MD)
Commo Road near Frank Tippett Road
From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 7A - Route 5/Branch Avenue toward Waldorf. Make a left onto Surratts Road. Southern Maryland Hospital will be on your right at the top of hill. Follow Surratts Road until it dead ends at Frank Tippett Road. Make a left onto Frank Tippett Road. Make the next left at Commo Road and continue until you pass over a bridge. The entrance is on your right.

FRAN UHLER NATURAL AREA
(Located next to Bowie State University, Bowie, MD)
From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 20A - Route 450/Annapolis Road East. Go approximately 8 miles and make a left onto Route 197/Laurel Bowie Road. Make a right onto Lemons Bridge Road. Follow road to park entrance.

LAKE ARTEMESIA
(Located in College Park/Berwyn Heights, MD)
From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 23B - Kenilworth Avenue toward Bladensburg. Make a right onto Route 193/Greenbelt Road. Make a right onto Branchville Road which becomes 55th Avenue. The parking lot is on the left at the Berwyn Road intersection.

MERKLE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
(Located in Upper Marlboro, MD)
From Route 301, continue on Route 301 South to Route 382/Croom Road. Turn left on Croom Road and follow to St. Thomas Church Road. Turn left on St. Thomas Church Road (watch carefully for oncoming traffic) and continue to Fenno Road. Follow Fenno Road and signs, to the Sanctuary.
From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 11A - Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue East toward Upper Marlboro. Continue on Route 4 to Route 301/Crain Highway South. Continue on Route 301 South to Route 382/Croom Road. Turn left on Croom Road and follow to St. Thomas Church Road. Turn left on St. Thomas Church Road (watch carefully for oncoming traffic) and continue to Fenno Road. Follow Fenno Road and signs, to the Sanctuary.

PARK RANGER OFFICE
(Located in Upper Marlboro, MD)
The Park Ranger Office is a white, 2-astory house on the grounds of the Prince George's Equestrian/Show Place Arena in the upper parking lot.
From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 11 A - Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue toward Upper Marlboro. Continue on Route 4 for approximately 7 miles. Exit at Prince George's County Offices - Equestrian Center. At the stop sign, make a right onto grounds of Prince George's Equestrian Center/Show Place Arena and continue into county parking lot. Proceed to top of the hill. The Park Ranger Office will be on your right.
From US 301, take Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue exit North toward Washington, D.C. Continue on Route 4 and take exit for Prince George's County Offices - Equestrian Center. PATUXENT RIVER 4-H CENTER
(Located near Bowie, MD)
From Route 301 in Bowie, turn onto Queen Anne Road. Go 2.2 miles and turn right at entrance to Patuxent River 4-H Center. Follow road to activity building.

PATUXENT RIVER PARK/JUG BAY NATURAL AREA
(Located in Upper Marlboro, MD)
From Route 301 in Upper Marlboro, turn onto Route 382/Croom Road. Go 4 miles and turn left onto Croom Airport Road. Follow signs to park entrance on left.

SCHOOL HOUSE POND
(Located in Upper Marlboro, MD)
From Route 50 & 301, take Exit 13 - Route 301 South (toward Richmond). Go approximately 10 miles and make a right on Marlboro Pike which becomes Main Street. Turn right at Governor Oden Bowie Drive.
