TOMMY LONG SCHOLARSHIP

The 6th Annual Tommy Long Scholarships were recently awarded to a girl and boy athlete chosen from applications submitted by members of the Prince George's County Boys & Girls Club.

Shown here from left at the check presentation are: Ann Edgin representing her son Samuel Edgin of the Bowie Boys & Girls Club who is attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia; sonny Long; Jessica Morrefield of the Bowie Boys & Girls Club who is attending the University of Maryland, College Park; and Karin Moorefield, Jessica's mother.

The award recipients Samuel and Jessica each received a one-time $2000 check from the scholarship to assist them with their college education.

Sonny Long established the Tommy Long Scholarship in memory of his son Tommy who was a star athlete with the Lewisdale Boys and Girls Club. Tommy's life was tragically ended in a car accident at the age of 14.
