Ignite your creative side at Art Spark: A Teen Art Summit. Art Spark is an opportunity for teen artists in the Greater Washington, DC community to fuel their artistic voices at a weekend celebration for the arts. Teens will come together for networking and artistic exploration, igniting their own creativity. A combination of art workshops and arts advocacy, sparking a life-long passion for the arts.
About Art Spark
In 2017, a group of 12 teens came together at Prince George’s Plaza Community Center to discuss how the arts influence their community. While eating pizza and making artworks, the teens expressed an interest in more career building and networking opportunities focused on teens in the arts. This discussion lead to the creation of the first teen art summit, hosted in March 2018 at Harmony Hall Art Center. The summit continues to grow each year, inviting more teen artists and arts advocates together to develop their future in the arts through advanced workshops. Collaborations for Art Spark have included artists and organizations such as Americans for the Arts, Maryland Citizens for the Arts, Prince George’s Shakespeare in the Parks, Words, Beats, and Life INC, CultureShock DC, and many more.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Art Spark went all-virtual in March 2021. The workshops and experiences included:
Virtual Broadway Meet & Greet with Broadway actress Isabelle McCalla.
Visual Artists Portfolio Reviews with Anna Trier from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Master Classes in Audition Preparation with Prince George’s Shakespeare in the Parks.
