Echoes of the Enslaved: Conversation
Friday, September 16, 2022
Capacity limited; advance pre-registration required.
This annual event addresses the lasting legacies of chattel slavery in Prince George’s County with a unique historic site and theme each year. Riversdale House Museum will highlight recent work with descendants along with connections to health and wellness.
Join a descendant panel and conversation circle in collaboration with Joe McGill and The Slave Dwelling Project, featuring Tina Wyatt (a descendant of Harriet Tubman), Rev. Jerome Plummer-Fowler (a descendant of an individual enslaved at Riversdale), and Dr. Joan M.E. Gaither (noted documentary story quilter). Afterwards, participate in bonfire conversation circles and facilitated discussion on the legacies of slavery and its impact on our modern world.
