Our Youth and Countywide Sports Division manages the permitting process for athletic fields through the county, as well as manages an extensive inventory of diamond (baseball, kickball, softball, t-ball, etc.) and rectangle (football, lacrosse, soccer, etc.) fields available for youth and adult practice, game, and league play.

Coaches will focus on developmental skills, teamwork, rules, play of the game, and character building. Volunteer requirements vary by sports opportunity. Sign up today!

These strategic partnerships provide a range of goods and services with benefits to the public as well as to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Partnerships also enable the conversion of underutilized park sites into facilities or land dedicated to recreation, education, agriculture, and training. To that end, private entities operating within the Department of Parks and Recreation include:
Game On is a 12-month comprehensive assessment of youth sports opportunities in the County that will lead to the development and delivery of a multi-year strategic plan. This plan will build upon our rich tradition of participation in youth sports programs.
Led by the consulting firm BerryDunn, Game On was developed in close collaboration between the M-NCPPC, Prince George’s County Government, partnered and independent youth sports organizations, and the community. At the end of the planning process, the Youth Sports Strategic Plan will be shared with the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County for approval.
