Explore the roots of the American Revolution. In 1765, Boston colonists began gathering around a large elm tree to voice their opposition to British rule. Learn how a tree became a symbol of a revolution, help plant a new “liberty tree” on the grounds of the museum, and celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding with light refreshments. This program is free, but registration is required.
With extreme heat advisories in effect, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County offers designated cooling centers for extended relief—open during regular hours; please confirm hours before visiting.
