Overview

The Good Luck Community Center (GLCC) is a well-loved but aging facility located in Lanham, Maryland. Built more than 50 years ago, the existing 10,300-square-foot center includes a gymnasium, preschool, weight room, and multipurpose rooms, and is surrounded by a playground, sport courts, and athletic fields on a 10-acre site.

A 2022 Feasibility Study recommended replacing the current structure with a new, stand-alone 25,000-square-foot facility to meet the growing recreation needs of the community. The new design will create flexible, accessible, and sustainable indoor and outdoor recreation spaces aligned with the Formula 2040 Functional Master Plan for Parks, Recreation, and Open Space.

The new community center will feature a modern gymnasium with seating, expanded multipurpose and meeting spaces, a preschool with private outdoor play area, a teen lounge, and improved connectivity to surrounding outdoor amenities. The design will incorporate energy-efficient systems and aim for LEED Silver certification. This project supports the Department’s mission to provide high-quality, inclusive recreation opportunities that respond to the evolving needs of Prince George’s County residents.
