M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County Alters Outdoor Programming for August 1 Due to Extreme Heat; Cooling Centers and Pools Remain Open

Riverdale, MD – M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, announces the cancellation of most outdoor programming from noon to 7:00 pm on August 1 due to the heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service; see exceptions below. The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay cool and hydrated. The following events will take place as scheduled with additional safety protocols in place:

Concerts at Cosca Regional Park (11000 Thrift Road, Clinton, MD 20735) at 6:00 pm
Concerts in the Parks at Watkins Regional Park (301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774) at 7:00 pm
Movie night with the Prince George’s County Police Department and The Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division at Fairwood Park (12390 Fairwood Pkwy, Bowie, MD 20720) will begin at 7:00 pm.

Indoor facilities remain open, and indoor programs will continue as scheduled. Patrons are encouraged to postpone visits to outdoor sites and instead take advantage of the many indoor activities and amenities available.
