M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County Cancels Sunday Afternoon Outdoor Events Due to Extreme Heat

RIVERDALE, Md. – Due to the forecast of extreme heat, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County afternoon outdoor events scheduled for Sunday, June 23 are canceled. The health and safety of the community is the Department’s top priority.
The Department of Parks and Recreation has established cooling centers throughout the county. The centers will provide air-conditioned spaces. Hours of operation will vary by location. Visit pgparks.com to verify times for each cooling center location. Additionally, all 6 indoor and 7 outdoor pools will remain open to provide additional opportunities for the community to remain cool and hydrated. Outdoor pools are extremely popular and tend to reach capacity early in the day/ session. Advanced reservations are encouraged to ensure patrons can be admitted to the pools. Drop-in/day admission will remain available until the pool’s operating capacity.
