Safe Summer Youth Campaign Launched by Dept of Parks and Rec., Pr. Geo. County

Riverdale, MD – Today the Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, part of M-NCPPC, proudly announced its Safe Summer campaign – an initiative designed to provide Teens and Pre-teens an array of programming, activities, and events this season. The Safe Summer 2024 campaign is designed to empower and inspire youth to go outside for recreation in safe spaces and will include late-night recreation. With a steadfast commitment to providing enriching experiences while prioritizing safety, the Department is poised to offer a summer filled with growth, fun, and adventure.

Safe Summer will offer various programs for ages 10-17 from Memorial weekend through Labor Day at the Department’s Parks, Pools, and Community Centers throughout the county. Each program provides a nurturing environment where youth can thrive, explore new interests, and build valuable skills. From swimming, to sports, to volunteering, Safe Summer offerings ensure that every participant finds an activity that resonates with their passions and aspirations.

The Department recognizes the importance of fostering a safe environment for Teens and Pre-teens to explore, learn, and connect; and is delighted to unveil a variety of programs designed to cater to the interests of local youth.

Just a few highlights of the summer campaign include:
