Welcome to the Youth & Countywide Sports Division! The goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle by providing a variety of sports & fitness offerings for residents of all ages and skill levels. The Division also manages the permitting process for athletic fields throughout the county. There is an extensive inventory of diamond (baseball, kickball, softball, t-ball, etc.) and rectangle (football, lacrosse, soccer, etc.) fields available for youth and adult practice, game, and league play.

Coaching Opportunities

The Youth & Countywide Sports Division is looking for volunteer coaches to lead participants in youth sports classes, clinics, and leagues. Coaches will focus on developmental skills, teamwork, rules, play of the game, and character building. Volunteer requirements vary by sports opportunity. Sign up today!

M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation works with entities in the business and non-profit sectors to enhance parks and recreational facilities. These strategic partnerships provide a range of goods and services with benefits to the general public as well as to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Partnerships also enable the conversion of underutilized park sites into facilities or land dedicated to recreation, education, agriculture, and training. Game On: Youth Sports Strategic Plan

Game On is a 12-month comprehensive assessment of youth sports opportunities in the County that will lead to the development and delivery of a multi-year strategic plan. This plan will build upon our rich tradition of participation in youth sports programs. 

Led by the consulting firm BerryDunn, Game On was developed in close collaboration between the M-NCPPC, Prince George’s County Government, partnered and independent youth sports organizations, and the community. At the end of the planning process, the Youth Sports Strategic Plan will be shared with the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County for approval.
