The beginning of military aviation started at College Park Airport and in 1924, the birth of successful vertical flight happened on the field with the Berliner model “C” helicopter test succeeded. Forty years later, helicopters would carry airmobile troops into the battlefields and jungles of Vietnam, and the helicopter would play an integral part of air combat. Dressed as a Vietnam helicopter pilot, our living history interpreter will present a 30-minute experience of the veterans who flew the machines, those who rode them into battle, and those who cared for the ones who were carried off the field. No registration required.
