Paint Branch is a walk-up facility, but we highly recommend you call prior to coming as sometimes the course will be closed to events and leagues

Accessible Golf

Accessible golf carts are available on our three courses!

We offer accessible golf carts to make the popular sport of golf more available to individuals with mobility impairments. Operated by hand controls, the seat raises and lowers as well as swivels to allow positioning to the ball. The golf bag is mounted to the front for easy access to the clubs.

Availability

The accessible carts are available for use by beginning golfers at the driving range; more experienced golfers may use the carts on the 9-hole course. The fee for use is $7 per round of golf, or free with a bucket of balls at the driving range.

Golf Policies

Policies and procedures are in place to govern the way golfers use the course. The purpose is to ensure the quality of the course and enable all golfers to play undisturbed and safely.

It is a player’s responsibility to know and understand the policies of each course prior to stepping on the course. Local course rules will be posted in the Pro shop, on score cards or on signage around the course. Etiquette is the consideration of other golfers.

Upon arrival, check into the Pro shop to pay your fees.

Basic Rules & Regulations

USGA Rules govern all play (except as modified by local rules):

Balls hit into unplayable water hazards require a dropped ball and a penalty stroke

Balls not found, require a dropped ball and a penalty stoke

Do not search for a lost ball for more than 5 minutes

Four players to a group (No spectators or caddies)

Free drop from cart paths, ground under repair and out of bounds

In case of lightning or severe weather, return to the club house

Make sure no one is in front or behind you when swinging your club

Make sure you play your own ball

Observe modified rules for golfers with disabilities

Play holes in order

Player farthest from the hole, hits first

Player with lowest score, hits first on next tee

Remove flagstick from the hole before putting

No Show Policy

To ensure an enjoyable and efficient experience for all our golfers, Paint Branch Golf Complex has established a No-Show Policy. This policy helps us manage tee times effectively and provide the best possible service to all our guests. Please review the details below:

Booking and Cancellation Guidelines

Reservation Confirmation:
-All tee times must be confirmed with a valid credit card at the time of booking.
-Players will receive a confirmation email with their booking details.

Cancellation Policy:
-Cancellations or modifications to tee times must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
-Cancellations can be made online through our booking system, by calling the pro shop, or by emailing our reservation team.

No-Show Policy

Definition of a No-Show:
-A “No-Show” is defined as failing to check in for your scheduled tee time without prior notice.
-Groups that arrive with fewer players than originally booked without prior notice may also be considered partial no-shows.

No-Show Fees:
-For no-shows or cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled tee time, a fee equivalent to the full green fee will be charged to the credit card on file.
-For partial no-shows, the fee will be prorated based on the number of players absent.

Weather Policy:
-In the event of course closure due to inclement weather, no-show fees will not be charged.
-If the course remains open, the no-show policy and associated fees still apply.

Late Arrivals:
-Players who arrive late may lose their tee time and be charged the no-show fee.
-If space allows, late arrivals will be accommodated at the next available tee time, but this is not guaranteed.

Communication and Enforcement

Reminders:
Paint Branch Golf Course does not have any automated reminders prior to your tee time.

Record Keeping:
A record of no-shows will be maintained. Repeat offenders may face additional actions, including suspension of booking privileges.

Appeals:
Players who believe they have been incorrectly charged a no-show fee may appeal the decision by contacting our customer service team within 7 days of the missed tee time.

Etiquette

Be quiet and still while other players are about to make their shot.

Be ready to play when it is your turn.

Coolers are not permitted. Alcohol may not be brought onto premises.

Don’t stand close to players about to swing their club.

Don’t take more than one practice swing.

Keep golf carts 30 feet from greens and tees.

Keep pull carts off greens, collars, aprons, and tees.

No bags on greens.

Observe cart paths and signs.

Rake sand traps after play.

Record your scores honestly.

Repair ball marks.

Replace divots.

Replace flag after play.

Shirts must be worn at all times. No tank tops or cut-off shorts are allowed.

Soft spikes required (no metal spikes).

Stay on pace of play with recommended times.

Stopping between nines may forfeit your turn on the 10th tee.

When necessary, allow the group behind to play through.

Write down scores while on the way to next hole to allow group behind you to approach the green.

Yell “fore” if a struck ball is heading into other golfers.

Tee Time Booking

We are excited to announce that for the first time ever in the history of the course, we will be taking tee times. Click on the Tee Times button for a link to the Golf Now app. You will be required to sign-up for a log-on with Golf Now, if you don’t already have one. You will also be able to book tee times through the GolfNow app.

  • Booking Problems/Issues:
    • If you have any problems booking your reservation or logging in, please reach out the Paint Branch Management team at 301-935-0330.
  • Reservations: 
    • All tee time reservations must be scheduled/reserved online in advance.
  • Walk-On Play:
    • Walk-on play is subject to tee time availability. 
    • Paint Branch Golf Course highly recommends you reserve your tee time in advance to guarantee your preferred tee time.
  • Incorrect Booking Rate:
    • If an incorrect rate is booked online, the player can pay the difference at the time of check-in.
  • Booking TIP: 
    • If some golfers in your group are riding and some are walking, select “Walking Rate”  and pay the appropriate cart rental fees during check-in.
  • Golfers with Disabilities:
    • Paint Branch Golf Course has a handicap golf cart available for those needing it. Please contact the golf course for more information.
  • Rain Checks
    • Rain checks are only issued when the management team deems the course to be unplayable or unsafe.
  • Junior Info:
    • Junior players ages 6-17 receive 50% off the posted rate public rack rate.
    • Any player under 12 years of age must be accompanied on the course by an adult.

Improve your game year-round. Located adjacent to Paint Branch Golf Complex, the Performance Center is dedicated to golf performance and training year-round. PGA instructors are certified to help you improve your game and reach your goals.

  • We provide golf development programs for juniors, adults, ladies and seniors.

Specialty Clinics

  • Beginners do not need to purchase golf clubs; we provide what you need during the clinic.
  • In our ‘Get Golf Ready’ Clinic, we will help you determine what equipment is best for your game.
  • Monthly clinics are offered for beginner, intermediate, power, putting and short game.
  • You can learn together with family and friends!

Interested in Becoming an Instructor?

Please visit PGParks.com and apply for one of our golf instructor positions. No outside instruction is allowed.

  • Only approved instructors teach group and private lessons and provide instruction at all of our Department of Parks and Recreation golf courses. 
  • Outside private instructors are not permitted to train anyone at this facility or to use any of our equipment in connection with unauthorized instruction.

The Department of Parks and Recreation’s Park Rules and Regulations, Chapter IV – Prohibited Activities and Conduct, Section 11: Commercial Activities, states “No person shall solicit or otherwise undertake any Commercial Activity on Park Property, except as authorized by Permit or Park Directive.”

Chapter IV – Prohibited Activities and Conduct, Section 22: Intended Use of Park Property, states “No person shall misuse or abuse any Park Property by utilizing it in any manner other than as appropriate according to its intended design or in another manner in which the Commission normally employs that Park Property in the ordinary course.”

Facility Management reserves the right to question any activity that may resemble private instruction or lessons for compensation.  For further clarity, some possible offenses may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing detailed instructions to other patron(s) when you and/or they are on park property.
  • Soliciting business of and/or receiving payment from another patron.

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission developed its Park Rules and Regulations to ensure the safety of our patrons, to avoid liability claims, and to maintain the consistency of the facility’s lesson program.  Unauthorized instructors who are not M-NCPPC staff are not covered by our liability insurance.

TrackMan Simulator Bays

Improvements to our Performance Center include the addition of two new state-of-the-art simulator rooms featuring TrackMan Golf! Reservations are required.

Simulator Tips

To help you have the best experience possible, here are some important tips:

Download the Trackman App in Advance: This allows you to track your shots, monitor your progress, and view your history with this amazing technology.

  • Watch Trackman YouTube Videos: If you haven’t experienced Trackman before, check out the YouTube links above to see what it’s all about.
  • Plan Your Session: Decide in advance if you want to play a round of golf, practice or play games. Knowing what you want to do will help you make the most of your time.
  • Check-In at the Golf Shop: Arrive at least fifteen minutes before your reservation to check in.
  • Purchase Food and Beverages: Get any food and drinks you need from the golf shop at check-in.
  • Review the Guidelines: Make sure to read and understand our guidelines to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience

    Simulator Rules

    There are important rules to follow at the Paint Branch Performance Center to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all players and guests. These guidelines are designed to maintain a clean, fun space. Please review and adhere to these rules, and feel free to ask our professional staff any questions you may have:

  • Always swing your club from inside the designated hitting area.
  • All golf clubs used must be clean and free of any dirt and debris.
  • Only clean and approved golf balls are to be used in the simulator bays.
  • Only one person should be inside the hitting bay during a swing.
  • Spectators must maintain a safe distance and keep an eye on the person golfing.
  • Report any glitches, malfunctions, or other issues with simulator equipment to facility staff or management immediately.
  • Do not touch simulator controls without staff assistance.
  • Only one ball should be used at a time with the simulator.
  • Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
  • Food and beverages must be kept outside the hitting bay at all times.
  • Be mindful of your allotted time and allow others to play by adhering to your reserved slot.
  • Before leaving, ensure you have collected all your belongings and disposed of any trash.
  • While we understand the desire to finish your “last hole,” please be ready to transition quickly if another booking is scheduled immediately after yours.
  • Always respect the equipment and fellow players.
  • Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and pleasant atmosphere at the Paint Branch Performance Center.

    JUNIOR GOLF

    We are proud to offer exciting programs to enable our youth opportunities to learn golf and improve their skills. Learning the game of golf at an early age is much easier than when we are older and once you learn, it can be a lifelong hobby. The game of golf teaches us respect, patience, and concentration – skills we also need for the game of life.

    First Tee of Greater Washington, DC (Ages 7-18)

    The First Tee started as a way to bring an affordable junior golf program to youth and communities that did not have them. What The First Tee soon discovered was that by blending the rules of the game with life and leadership skills, kids and teens didn’t just learn how to putt – they were learning important values. 

    The First Tee Mission: To impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. 

    First Tee Registration

    • To view available classes, visit the First Tee Class Schedule page. 
    • Click on LOG IN to join and then REGISTER by choosing one of the available classes located in Prince George’s County.

    PGA Junior League

    PGA Jr. League is changing the way golf is learned and played through its fun, team-oriented approach. Taught by professional golf instructors, players will participate in organized team practice sessions and matches held within the league.

    • Ages vary per league between 8-18

    Operation 36

    Learning to play golf can be an overwhelming and frustrating experience if you don’t have a clear plan! That is why Operation 36 provides beginners with the most effective developmental programs and technology to learn to play golf. Become a skilled golfer by following a motivating roadmap to shooting Par (36) or better for 9 holes!  Spring and fall classes include on-course playing every week!
