Fairwood Community Park Summer Performances

2022 Fairwood Community Park Performance Series and Music Festival is Back! 

After a three-year hiatus due to the Coronavirus, the Fairwood Community Park Performance Series and Music Festival returns in-person. This year’s festival will be a revival of the celebration of culture and community. 

The Fairwood Community Park Performance Series and Music Festival has been bringing community residents, artists and culture lovers together since 2013. Performances are FREE and suitable for all ages!

The festival has grown into one of the most anticipated performing arts events in Prince George’s County. The list of musical acts that have performed at Fairwood include high profile national acts and regional favorites such as Sugar Bear and EU, The Chuck Brown Band, DC Fusion, Secret Society, Akua Alrich, and The Let It Flow Band. Additionally, the touring company of Shakespeare in the Parks makes an annual stop at Fairwood, performing some of the most popular plays from the expansive and eternally popular catalog of playwright William Shakespeare. 

2022 Schedule 


Sunday, June 12th, 4 pm-6 pm: The Walker Redds Project 

The Walker Redds Project is an extremely versatile group whose music blends old and new school r&b, funk, jazz, gospel, old school go-go, and neo-soul. Their unique sound, often described as ‘pocket jazz’, delights audiences throughout the DMV and beyond.

Sunday, July 10th at 3 pm: Shakespeare in the Parks 

Prince George's Shakespeare in the Parks returns to Fairwood with an action-packed production of Shakespeare's classic tragedy Macbeth. Inspired by the novel-turned-movie Gangs of New York, this 1850's interpretation features some of the region's best stage combat artists and seasoned actors.

Sunday, July 17th, 4 pm-6 pm: The N2N Band   

N2N is a dynamic, seven-member band that performs old and new school r&b, soul, Motown classics and pop music. They’ve performed at presidential inaugurations, festivals, fairs and concert series, and opened for several national recording artists.

Sunday, August 14th, 4 pm-6 pm: The Brencore All-Star Band:  A Tribute to the Legends of Funk, Rock, and Soul  

Brencore’s All-Star line-up of stellar musicians band will pay tribute to the funk, rock, and soul superstars of yesteryear including Jimi Hendrix, The Isley Brothers, Rufus, Mother’s Finest, Prince, Parliament/Funkadelic, Sly Stone, Rufus, Fishbone, James Brown, and many more!

Sunday, August 28th, 1 pm-6 pm:  

DC Fusion 

Twice named best wedding band by Northern Virginia Magazine, DC Fusion is one of the region’s most in-demand dance bands playing music genres from r&b and soul to gogo and more.       

Elyscia 

Young r&b sensation Elyscia’s captivating voice and mature stage presence has landed her gigs with r&b greats like Jennifer Hudson and Regina Belle. She is an accomplished songwriter and a 2021 American Idol finalist. 

Kevin Jackson 

Guitarist, bassist, and composer Kevin Jackson has stormed onto the smooth jazz scene since launching his solo career a decade ago. Selections from his fourth cd Elevation have landed on the Billboard Smooth Jazz playlist and are in regular rotation on Sirius XM’s Watercolors.  

The Exclusives 

The Exclusives are one of the hottest professional cover bands in the Washington DC metropolitan area. This group of talented musicians and singers performs Motown, r&b, pop, classic rock, contemporary jazz and funk selections from the 60's to today.

Fairwood Summer Performances History

This summer tradition began in 2013 as a single-day event bringing community residents and visitors together to enjoy the creations on display by local artists and craftspeople. Musical entertainment was provided by some of the area’s favorite bands. Over the years, Fairwood residents became collaborators, thereby ensuring that the desires of the community remained central to planning the festival.

Now firmly established as a seasonal series, it has grown into one of the most anticipated performing arts events in Prince George’s County. The list of musical acts that have performed at Fairwood include high profile national acts and regional favorites such as Sugar Bear and EU, The Chuck Brown Band, DC Fusion, Secret Society, Akua Alrich, The Let It Flow Band, and The Exclusives, a band comprised of Fairwood residents!
