The Arts & Cultural Heritage Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is proud to announce the return of the Fairwood Community Park Summer Performance Series and Music Festival for 2024. This summer tradition, established over a decade ago as the Fairwood Arts Festival, is now an annual series and has grown into one of the most anticipated performing arts events in Prince George’s County.  

This year’s performances – with R&B, soul, jazz, funk music, and Shakespeare – will be a revival of the celebration of culture and community. We will feature outstanding performances from musicians, actors, and groups from Prince George’s County and beyond. Performances are FREE and suitable for all ages!

June Performances

Sunday, June 9th 2024 –Caribbean American Heritage Month, 4-6pm

Eclipse International

Made up of cultures and talents ranging from the Caribbean shores of Trinidad & Tobago to the United States of America, Eclipse International has created a magical sound. Having opened for artists including Beres Hammond, Romain Virgo, Problem Child, Bunji Garlin, and others, Eclipse International continues to “bring the vibes” everywhere they go.

I&I Riddim

Three-time recipient of the DMV Best Reggae Band Award, I&I Riddim captures the spirit and essence of reggae’s irresistible upbeat dance rhythm. Performing standard reggae favorites, modern reggae, and a few reggae-style pop rock and calypso/soca tunes, I&I Riddim will transform the stage into a true Caribbean experience!

July Performances

N2N Band  

N2N is a dynamic, seven-member band performing old and new school R&B, soul, Motown classics and pop music for over 15 years. They have performed at presidential inaugurations, festivals, fairs, concert series, and opened for several national recording artists such as BeBe Winans and The Delfonics.   

The Walker Redds Project 

The Walker Redds Project is a versatile group whose music blends old and new school R&B, funk, jazz, gospel, old school go-go, and neo-soul. Their unique sound, often described as ‘pocket jazz’, delights audiences throughout the DMV and beyond. 

August Performances

Sunday, August 4th 2024, 4-6pm

KYAIRA 

Based in the DMV area, singer-songwriter Kyaira is known for her unique powerhouse vocals and soothing undertones, cementing her as a rising start in the R&B/Soul genre. Kyaira’s voice has been compared to legendary artists such as Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, and Ari Lennox, and she has shared the spotlight with celebrated artists such as Jade Novah, Candiace Dillard-Bassett, Nim, and DuPont Brass.  

BRENCORE ALLSTARS BAND 

Brencore’s All-Star line-up of stellar musicians will pay tribute to the funk, rock, and soul superstars of yesteryear bringing a depth, richness, and appreciation to some of Motown’s greatest hits. The Allstars will perform a series of medleys and powerhouse songs will have you singing and dancing to your favorite MOTOWN songs all night long, a do not miss event! 


Sunday, August 25th 2024 – Fairwood Music Festival, 1-6pm

Deborah Bond 

Washington D.C. based global vocal sensation Deborah Bond has packed nightclubs and venues across the world. Her distinctive vocals can be heard on recordings with The Foreign Exchange, Frank McComb, the late acid jazz guitarist Ronnie Jordan, and the legendary UK soul/ R&B supergroup Incognito. 

The Exclusives 

The Exclusives are one of the hottest professional cover bands in the DMV area. This group of talented musicians and singers performs Motown, R&B, pop, classic rock, contemporary jazz and funk selections from the 60’s to today.   

8 Ohms Band  

Winner of the 2022 Wammie Award for BEST FUNK ARTIST, The 8 Ohms band has a powerhouse lineup of players from across the D.C metro area. Bringing heaping doses of Horn Heavy Funk, and drawing from diverse musical backgrounds, the 8 Ohms are known for blurring the lines between hard groove, funk, pop, soul & reggae.  

Spur of the Moment 

Spur of the Moment has, over the past two decades, inspired thousands of fans across the world with a vibe that continues to define the word band. This Jazz, Funk and Soul group has performed with everyone from Stanley Clarke and George Duke to Oleta Adams, and Ledisi.
